About

In a nutshell, I am a 30-something working mom who is married to a man who is pretty fantastic, two pups who have been pushed off our bed to make room for our now one-year old  THREE year-old daughter (more to come on working while in law school and being a new mom while in law school). I come from a family of divorced parents and two siblings. Neither of which I think is relevant. We moved around a lot due to my father’s job. This I think is relevant. I think the fact that we moved so much helped form me into the studious individual that I became. With new schools came new educational standards to meet. Arriving in a new state meant I either had to play catch up to meet the standards of the new state or take a few weeks to relax if I found I was already ahead of the game. As a result, I formed really good study habits and an organized way of thinking; both of which that I think are two of the most important skills to have for anyone entering into law school (keep an eye out for my tips and tricks for surviving your first year of law school).

I work 7-5, in a government job that I have held for 9 11 years now. One of the reasons I decided to go to law school on a part time basis and in the evenings was because I couldn’t fathom leaving a job that I enjoyed doing, that I was really good at, and that I knew would serve as a foot in the door once I passed the bar. (UPDATE: I immediately went to work as an attorney on the Monday following receipt of my state bar ID number). Plus, the people there are totally awesome and very supportive of my decision to go to law school (UPDATE: and stay on as an attorney).

This blog is my way of looking back on my journey of law school and becoming a new mom as well as documenting my journey into the field of law. Hopefully I can lend some advice to new law students, new moms, and those law students who have chosen to become moms.

So, thanks for stopping by. Sit back and enjoy.
